It was cheaper to buy from Amazon than Apple, worked flawlessly out of the box, and has been a lot of fun to use. Mac OS X isn't perfect, but there are aftermarket software "widgets" aplenty to address many (what I perceive as) shortcomings. It is fast, stable and written with a lot of thought for the end user.
